Martha Di Giovanni
I came across this stunning piece designed by Martha Di Giovanni. This image was created using Corel Painter. I personally loved how the shadows, overtones, and light created such soft and smooth blended which gave the image a photorealistic look. Upon first glace I easily had mistaken this image to be a photograph. I also loved the harmony shared between the colors which aided in the over all aesthetics of the piece. Martha’s piece recently made Painter magazine’s pic of the week which you could check out here. http://www.paintermagazine.co.uk/show_image.php?imageID=35886 you can also check out many of her other portfolio pieces here. http://docworks.us/ Check in from time to time because she’s always working and never stops creating images that will nourish your creative appetite.

The Opera Gallery
I was going through some photos and I came across some pics I took of art work done by Ron English, Paul Insect, and Yasmina Alaouqi, Marco Guerra. These pieces were all featured at the Opera Gallery New York this summer. http://www.operagallery.com/art-gallery/NEW-YORK_3.aspx

Alex Pardee
From his illustrations to his paintings it’s rare that I come across an artist whose concepts are as far out as Alex’s. I can’t think of too many Illustrators that are producing art work this original, I think that’s what sets his work apart from allot of the illustrated work out there. http://eyesuckink.com/

Francis Kmiecik

Francis Kmiecik’s is another awesome illustrator and designer who’s work I instantly fell in love with. He does a phenomenal job of capturing the beauty of the models he uses as they pose in different environments or in backgrounds which he’s created. Like his imagination his work is vivid and thoroughly rendered. Here is some of his work and one of his motion graphic pieces. http://halfanese.com/

Through The Worm Hole
This series has so much to offer as they take on some of the many complex issues of the universe. In the first episode they take on the issue of life after death and use personal testimonies, unique imagery, and all types of numerous sources to help give a thorough explanation of the subject. I found this to be very fascinating and I encourage you to watch as well.

NYC Underground
I stumbled upon this video by Andrew Wonder of his travels through out the underground of NYC. He explores through out the tunnels of Manhattan’s subway system and as the camera rolls he takes you on a tour of some really awesome relic architecture as he also tries to avoid the hidden dangers of the tunnels, right underneath you feet. He adds another unique perspective to how you view the city; and the visual at the last place of his visit offers an aesthetically splendid visual of….I’m not going to give it away check out the video for yourself. http://www.undercity.org/

Out There

Every now then I ponder about where we fit as a planet in this huge universe. This video through its imagery gives you an idea of how small our planet is in comparison to the massive planets and structures that we’ve discovered in space.

Motion Graphic Reels

A motion graphic reel I thought was pretty interesting

Todd Schorr

Todd Schorr’s work is purely phenomenal. His concepts are intriguing and he has the unique ability to skillfully render all of his works with such realism. His style is so refined that it distinguishes him from many of the artist in the Low-Brow scene. http://www.toddschorr.com/

Joe Iurato, At The One Gallery

This show took place at the One Gallery a while back it also featured the work of Lyman Dally, Marshall Okin, Stan Sudol, Eric Tran, and Christine Wagner . Max’s Kansas City exhibit at the Steven Kasher Gallery

Many of New York’s finest artists and musicians who went on to produce world renowned astounding works through out the 70’s, would often frequent Max’s Kansas City.
http://www.maxskansascity.com/ Max’s Kansas City is another one of New York’s lost cornerstones for the arts. This was a place where many of the artists could escape, network, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

This group does a brilliant job tackling complex issues through the narrator’s step by step explanations, detailed illustrations, and animations.

Exit Through a gift Shop

Exit Through a gift Shop is a film about the life Thierry Guetta, who is French immigrant living in Los Angeles and who has an intense desire to fulfill his love for Street Art. Film also sheds light an various other street artist as well. In my opinion I believe the film is a documentary based on the life of Bansky and his transformation as a street artist into his career as a filmmaker. But all around the film is definitely a must it will keep your interest from beginning till the end. I’ve also left you a video which gives you some info on some of the Bansky and some the projects he’s done which gave him his recognition.

Herakut
Herakut, consist of two German graffiti artist, Jasmin(Hera) and Falk(Akut), who make an excellent team as they collaborate to produce such remarkable works of art. In “Permission To Paint” they painted on the walls of the Leonard Street Gallery in London’s East End. This work was open to the public between December 14th 2007 and January 11th 2008. You can see more of Herakut’s work at http://www.herakut.de/ and www.myspace.com/herakut here are two videos for you to check out. Even though the one video is in German it is more of a currant example of why these two are a dynamic dual.

Estevan Oriol

Estevan Oriol is a photographer based out in Los Angeles California who has does a remarkable job of documenting the city of Los Angeles and many places all over the globe. From spending time in LA I know how huge the city is and how it is almost impossible to experience it all at once, not unless if you are a native. So for him to get the right shots in so many areas through out the city, I not only admire his work but also his diligence and his capability to find the right shots which displays the true essence of the city and many of the places he’s been world wide. He’s also taken some real interesting shots of celebrities for various magazines. http://estevanoriol.blogspot.com/

James and Karla Murray

James and Karla Murray are the to documentaries who are responsible for the creation of “Burning New York”, “Miami Graffiti”, and “Broken Windows”, which are three dramatic books on graffiti. They do an amazing job with photographing the very vibrant work of all of the various artists in the book. They also give in depth interviews with the artists as they their take on graffiti movement and give you a break down of what makes graffiti what it is. To those who support graffiti and are enthusiast for the art form and culture, these are a must have. They also got a book out now which documents the store fronts through out NYC. Like the graffiti books they’ve loaded the book with beautiful photographs to narrate you through the book and alloy the city to speak to you through each page you view.

Infamy

Out of all the graffiti documentaries that’s been released this film is definitely one of the best. The film reveals the love and respect that each writer has for the art and the culture; the time it took for them to establish them selves, and the sacrifice that they’ve made to peruse their passion.

Click the link to find out a little more about the film.
